Rachel & Joe 30/12/16
A lovely couple who I felt I had bonded with prior to the day as I had met them over a coffee in Lichfield to discuss their day. The wedding was at the beautiful Hawkesyard Hall, a place where I never get tired of playing no matter what the season.
The day had a slight morning mist in the grounds which truly added to the atmosphere. Rachel & Joe are a very relaxed couple who clearly just wanted to enjoy their day.
For the entrance music they chose ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ and we agreed that I would play the intro for the bridesmaids’ entrance and then the chorus for Rachel. For the register I played a medley of ‘All of Me, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and ‘1,000 Years’ and for the exit, something slightly more upbeat was ‘I’m Yours’ by Jason Mraz.
I later played for the meal and included, by request, a number of songs to include ‘Hotel California’ and ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls. Otherwise I played a suitable selection for all ages. Rachel said she was particularly moved by my playing of the entrance music as we timed it perfectly to accommodate the walk of the bridesmaids followed by the bride. The other lovely compliment I received on the day was from a guest who couldn’t quite see me in the room who thought I was a CD being played!
I’ve since received a lovely email from Rachel & Joe thanking me for helping to make their day special.
